Meet Joe

Joe has spent a lifetime working as a creative and crafts person, well-equipping him for his work as a professional up-cycler. He left Art College in the late ‘70s and combined his artistic training with working as a welder and fabricator in the family business Melting Furnaces, also turning his hand to photography and sculpture in his spare time.  

With his understanding and appreciation of the aesthetics of shape, form and function, Joe is now applying his skills to working in the world of creative reuse; remastering items which might otherwise have ended their days in landfill. 

As well as large furnace fabrication, Joe has travelled widely and gained a wealth of knowledge working in various companies from production welding, industrial building frames, Ministry Of Defence, and bespoke hand railings to name but a few.

Joe recently moved into a large workshop in Bishopstone near Brighton, where he ensures all his clients receive the very best finish, functionality and style in any products they buy, or have made as a bespoke item by Scavenger Design.

He is now enjoying his new found passion for sharing his 40 years of experience with pupils who attend his welding courses.
